R&D at Lafarge focuses on the satisfaction of customer requirements and the development of products which are increasingly environmentally friendly. Research teams play an active role in the Group's overall performance.
Partnerships
Lafarge expands its research horizons through partnerships with prestigious graduate schools, institutions and universities around the world. Partners include the CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research) and the MIT.

Research is central to Lafarge's strategy and the Group invests significantly more than other companies in the sector. The result is more than 1,000 research employees, a research budget of more than 150 million euros and hundreds of patents.

Lafarge's research teams study the microstructure of materials to gain a better understanding of their properties. Teams bring together a wide range of skills, from the technology of powders and rheology to hydration chemistry and mechanics.

R&D is structured around the Research center, which conducts fundamental research, and Technical centers around the world, which develop and industrialize solutions. This ensures global reach and targeted responses.
